Here is some pictures of my new lamp. An orange table Flowerpot lamp.
Strangely, I did not have this lamp in the collection before. It looks very good!
From the beginning, the Flowerpot lamp was designed by Panton as an assignement to make a lamp for candles.
That is why it is in enamel. It could take the heat.
He made some sketches for it with the “KOM IGEN” projekt in mind but he never used it there. That was in 1958.
The shape of the lamp is very simple. Two spheres.
The larger one is exactly twice the size of the smaller one.
Later, an employee at the Louis Poulsen office saw the prototype, he talked to Louis Poulsen and they all decided to put electric into this lamp instead of candles.
In 1968, the first year of procuction, there was 240 000 lamps sold.
That has to be some sort of record!
