A new Verner Panton lamp for the collection!
This time the large ceiling version of the ”VP Europa” from 1977.
The glass shade, wich is 51 cm in diameter, is mouth blown and due to the heavy weight it has a special mounting system wich I didn’t earlier understood was so complicated.
When making these glass shades by hand the weight can be a little uneven so therefor Verner and Louis Poulsen came up with this adjustable system where you can decide where the centerpoint should be. The lamp it self doesn’t hang in the cord but in a small steelwire. A very cool solution but it must have been very expensive and difficult to make these glass monsters.
I have had the glass shade in an original box for probably 10 years but without the lampholder/cord. Recently I found the missing part and here is the result.
By the way, if you have another lampholder/cord for this, please let me know since a friend is looking for the same part.
Also if you happend to have the small version of the glass shade (I have the lampholder/cord but misses the glass).
